What is mobyCar?

The mobyCar project started with a vision to create an expandable in-car platform for entertainment, personalization, wireless connectivity and information on the go.

mobyCar is a complex integration exercise that integrates off-the-shelf components, such as a touch-screen monitor and the Mac Mini, with custom hardware and software. One such complexity is the integration of BMW's multifunction steering wheel to control the volume and current track of the music being played. All major control functions are also accessible from the mobyCar user interface.

mobyCar is basically a platform for vehicular telematics. Essentially, it extends the capabilities of your automobile to offer the following capabilities: entertainment, communications, navigation, mobile computing, information services and vehicle information/diagnostics. The possibilities are endless.
